An overnight strike on Kherson targeted the people and equipment responsible for emergency response, but rescuers survived because they were sheltering underground.
On the night of August 12, Russian drones struck the premises of a unit of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service in Kherson.
According to the State Emergency Service, the attack damaged the unit’s facilities, specialized vehicles, and engineering equipment. Fires also broke out on the premises.
Rescuers were in shelter
At the time of the strike, the unit’s personnel were in a shelter. No rescuers were injured.
That same night, Russian attack drones also targeted other areas of Kherson. Two people were killed in the shelling.
