For three weeks I have been reading all the time about the Russian troops in Yelnya.
I think this time they’ll be acquiring Belarus, not continuing to salami slice Ukraine.
Nobody will fight a war with Russia over Belarus right now, they’ve aimed to unite the two countries for years, and it’s a strategically useful acquisition to threaten NATO, the EU, and Ukraine.
Although Russia already has borders on Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine, those borders will be longer and Vilnius, Kyiv, and Warsaw will be closer to the border and the border of contiguous Russia.
Ahh the good old Russia = bad r/Europe post. Truly a classic!
