  1. That’s it, lads, I’ve had enough. We start over with a new Republic on Monday. Someone quicksave and hit the reset button, but none of this civil war bollocks again.

  2. What’s the excuse this time?

They’ll keep putting up the price as long as people keep paying. These vultures do not care about us or the struggles we are going through. They’ll be getting what I can afford to pay and nothing more. If they feel like they’re short a few quid they can dip into the record profits they’ve been making the last few years. Enough is enough.

  3. The Government could bring in emergency legislation tomorrow to say that any energy company which is in profit can’t raise prices.

It’s a conscious political choice not to do so.

  4. Anti-Russia sanctions are destroying the EU economy and seem to have minimal impact on Russia. Has Russia withdrawn from Ukraine due to the sanctions? No, they have not. Furthermore, the Russian ruble is trading at an all time high right now despite the war and sanctions. It is time to rethink our response to the Ukraine conflict.

At some point during the coming winter the EU will be forced to drop all the anti-Russia sanctions in order to survive. Unfortunately, by then great damage will have already been done to our industries and populations.

  5. The French have capped increases to 4% for all off 2022.

    Why cant we do that?
Let the electricity companies eat the increases.

We already pay the 4th highest prices for electricity in Europe.

Here is a list of all the help the rest of Europe has implemented for their citizens. All we have done is 200euro off electricity and a cut to fuel.

Look at what Italy has done. Also check out the so called basket case that is Greece.

  6. At this rate come winter i wont be able to heat my place. Blankets at the ready.
They are totally ripping us off, price gouging and war profiteering given the green light . Sickening.
Im on disability and can only work part time due to spinal injury. This is depressing me no end.

  7. How did Europe not plan for the situation where Russia would do this to us? We’re so exposed. It seems really silly that we’re in this situation?

Also, what’s the reasoning behind us not investing in Nuclear power? We are overly reliant on other countries for our energy.

  8. what’s wrong with tidal wave power?

Seems like the best option to an uninformed layman, seeing as we live on an island, and the waves move day and night, and also don’t generate or leak nuclear waste.

  9. The two turf power stations the Greens party closed ….any chance those clowns opening them ….to help feed the data centers they said was ok ?

  10. The people of Ireland: “We’re really struggling at the moment and just can’t afford to be gouged like this over and over. Plus I thought all these renewables the country invested in were meant to mean cheap electricity for the nation. Can you please do something?”

FFG: “Lol, fuck off, nerds. Have you _seen_ the mark up on electricity from renewables?! Cha-ching baby! There’s mad profit to be made and you want us to get in the way of that?! Fucking lol, miss me with that shit…”

  11. I don’t understand why the EU is reluctant to consider nuclear power as a green option. Its literally the best source of power on earth. We need to build a nuclear power supply

  12. Well at least the poor, poor government won’t suffer due to them giving themselves a 15 percent pay rise.

  13. Am I the only one who thought they had to apply to the energy regulator for permission to increase costs and it took months.

Or did I just always imagine that was the case?

I have to genuinely question the function of the energy regulator. It’s starting to look like a big fat quango

  14. The thing that springs to mind is these gougers aren’t stopped for the year, there will be more increases to come in a month or two.

Genuinely thinking of getting the gas disconnect from house, even if I didn’t use it, it’s a fair few quid at this stage. Just get a few of them oil filled rads and plug em in. Cost goes up electric but might save few quid overall, gonna be a cold fucking winter.

Virgin Media might get the chop too.
