I thought it was about what happened 50 years ago, but it turned out that it lasted until 2004. This is terrible.

Isn’t this considered genocide? I remember reading years ago about how the Israeli government was giving long term contraceptives to Ethiopian Jewish women without their knowledge in order to reduce the number of black jews, and that one was falling under the definition of genocide as it was stopping a specific ethnic group from procreating (tho of course nobody cared since it was Israel).
I would think these forced sterilizations are the same thing?
Oh and I just remembered that in China the Han nationalists have a conspiracy theory that the CCP has been infiltrated by minorities who have been conducting genocide against them because the one child policy applied to the Han but not to minorities (and as a result the percentage of Han fell from 95 to 90%) but I don’t know if that one counts as genocide as they still could have 1 child
That’s some straight up Nazi eugenics shit right here 🤦♂️
> By 2100, 21 out of the 27 EU Member States will see their populations decline, the study predicts. Some countries like Bulgaria, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain will probably even see their populations reduce by more than half by 2100 — up to a 77% decline for Latvia.
Probably could have used that population.
>It was only in 2004 that laws were passed to ensure the validity of consent as many women had been unlawfully pressured or convinced to agree to sterilization without fully understanding the consequences.
What is this supposed to mean? The agreement was, I give you some money and you can’t have more kids. How would they “not fully understand” or “be pressured into” this?
And by the comments here, you can see how sorry Slovaks are.. They would do it more if they could.
Deutsche Welle is absolutely garbage website. The Germans spend 350 million euros a year on crap like this. I have completely lost confidence in Europe. Propaganda, disinformation, fake news, half truths dominate the whole continent. The population of Europe is getting dumber every year.
Here’s what happened. In the early 1990s, there was a state action where Roma women who had three children were given the opportunity to be sterilized and in return they received 25,000 korona. This was a very large sum at the time. Of course there were some very low-IQ roma who did not understand the meaning of the word ‘sterilize’. They were just happy with the money…
This action was stopped not because the Roma felt discriminated against, but because the non-Roma women felt discriminated against because they didn’t have that option.
least racist European/s
According to UN convection, forced sterilisation is considered a form of genocide, so if you defend/justify this, you support/whitewash genocide.
Forced sterilization is definitely highly immoral, but making sterilization (both for men and women) necessary condition for receiving social benefits for multiple children poor families (which are not pathological enough to take children away of course) is imho interesting idea, especially in countries with lower sexual education levels.
Edit: to clarify, I’m taking about law applicable to all citizens, not some blatantly rascist policy.
Oh right, saying sorry AFTER you’ve committed genocide is surely going to make up for shit you’ve done =)
Hear that china? All you gotta do once you’re finished with your genocide is say sorry. Then the world will forgive you….
They are making childrens so they don’t need to work and they can grab free money from government. You really don’t know how is it with this minority in Slovakia.
These comments lmao
“Forced sterilization isn’t genocide” 💀💀💀
And now in almost all regions in Eastern Slovakia almost 50% of young population are Romas..
Modern day cleansing lol
Despite this gypsy debate. Again it was put on women. Why don’t just force men into vasectomy. Why does it always have to be about women and their bodies, who anyways are 10 months pregnant, and can only have a child once a year, with is so much different to men.
