Green Party Minister Roderic O’Gorman has confirmed that some student accommodation sites will continue to house Ukrainian refugees even into September during the next college term.
As reported by Midlands103, O’Gorman made the comments in reply to Independent Laois-Offaly TD Carol Nolan.

This was always going to happen. We hugely over commited our resources
I can only say that locally some purposes built student accommodation has been turned into dp centres and some has simply been sold off as standalone apartments. Its no joke there will be very few options available at all this year for students.
Our third level system is bloated. A lot of people wont like hearing this, but there are a lot of degrees out there not worth the paper they are written on.
Too many occupations are looking for professional regocnition. Every one year diploma is trying to become a 4 year degree and every 4 year degree is trying to become a 5 year level 8. Bodies that represent these occupations want more barriers to entry, because it reduces competition and allows them to charge more for their services. And third levels intitutions just want more bodies for longer because thats how they get paid.
If you want to free up student accomadation then delete all the bullshit courses.
No worries, someone will come along now in the comments to tell us it’s all okay because only 60% of Swedish people own homes, so therefore it’s not a government issue.

If I was going around again in these times I think I’d just become an electrician instead.
We’re all suffering, if some kiddos have to live rent free in their parents homes for the privilege of 3rd level education, it’s not that bad. Too much emphasis put on students when there’s nowhere for actual grown adults to live.
Students are so selfish,all that matters now is helping the Ukrainian people find a forever home here in Ireland. All Students should from now on ONLY study from home and free up all accommodation for the Ukrainian people,what’s that? You can’t do science experiments at home? Tough,these poor people are coming here with their homes blown up by Putin’s bombs. Hows that for a science experiment? Any complaints from privileged students should be met with derision,up to 200 of our brave Ukrainian soldiers are dying everyday so you can study in college. Our boys are dying and students moan about their first World problems. The Government need to move on building homes for the 200,000+ Ukrainian people that are eventually coming here,l hope its 20 Million that arrive! Students should go to the back of the Queue. College is not a social club,they are there to learn,nothing else. There is no need for students to be in college now with the online technology out there. Online learning might not be ideal but would you rather be getting shot at or blow to bits? Just take the hit,let the Ukrainian take your dorm,do the right thing,not the selfish thing. All that matters now is what we can do for Ukraine,Nothing else. Ask yourself,What have you done for Ukraine today? Well? SLAVA UKRAINI!!!!!!!!
