Under Armour and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson end decade-long partnership | Entertainment

“After an impressive 10-year run, Under Armour and Dwayne Johnson are bringing our partnership to a natural conclusion. As we sharpen our focus and strengthen our core business, we’re creating a more unified expression in our train category,” a spokesperson for Under Armour said in a statement Friday. “We’re incredibly grateful to DJ and his entire team for their partnership, friendship, and everything we’ve built together over the past decade. We wish him and his team nothing but continued success.”

Under Armour was founded by University of Maryland alumnus Kevin Plank. Its five-story, 280,000-square-foot global headquarters is located at Sparrows Point on the Baltimore Peninsula.

Johnson’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Under Armour will continue to distribute Project Rock through October, and then it is unclear if Johnson will continue the brand elsewhere.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Johnson said the split is “a natural evolution as well as a new direction.”

“With Project Rock, or just like life itself — everything must evolve. And in order to evolve, we must move in new and exciting directions,” he said.
