Finished my PhD in 2020. Got a 16k annual (tax free) stipend for the 3 year. It was painful at time so I wholely welcome this change. They will likely tax this tho so the basic increase may not be as much.
Post docs salaries are also laughable given the out of time in education. I’ve argued before that academia is a form institutionalisation by another name, and I’m an academic.
That’s one weeks rent sorted.
