New rules proposed for buy now pay later

  1. I use the paypal buy now pay later feature quite a bit when buying clothes online. I usually send back most of the stuff I buy for not suiting or fitting me, so it’s useful.

I might buy £200 of clothes, but only end up keeping £50 worth.

Having £200 go out of my current account can be jarring and confusing for budgeting. Especially when it takes companies quite a while to process a return.

Prefer to do it all using someone elses money, then just settling the remaining balance at the end of the month.

  2. Quite often Amazon do a gift card offer and it’s usually around buy a £50 gift card and get an £80 one, lowest I’ve had is a free £10.

I got a double one at Christmas so bought an £80 card and got £160 in Amazon money.

I’d buy the one time credit card from Klarna for £50 and then buy the Amazon gift card with that. Can get stuff for up to £80 and pay it back over a couple months. Usually something tech or a big household haul. Great for free money and spreading out random off purchases
