NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – A man died on Sunday after falling from a barge into a confined space in New Haven.
Firefighters were called to Waterfront Street at around 2:47 a.m. for a confined space rescue, according to the fire department.
When crews arrived, they found an approximately 60-year-old man who had fallen from a barge into a confined area in a barge bay.
The victim was in cardiac arrest and crews sprang into action and set up an extensive rope operation to remove the man from the confined space.
Fire officials said the victim did not survive.
No further details were released.
