Express readers have delivered their verdict on whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should receive a royal funeral. Mountbatten-Windsor could reportedly still be in line for a royal funeral despite losing his royal titles and official status last year. The former Duke of York, 66, was stripped of his titles and is now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

He has also left Royal Lodge and now lives at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. Reports that he could nevertheless receive a royal funeral have prompted a strong reaction from Express readers.

The poll, which ran from 7am on August 11 until 3.15pm on August 14, found that 2761 people think Mountbatten-Windsor should not have a royal funeral.

Meanwhile, the poll results showed that 381 people thought he should have a royal funeral. A total of 93 people said they don’t know.

The news that Mountbatten-Windsor could have a royal funeral has also sparked some outrage from royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, who told GB News: “The idea he should be offered a royal funeral is clearly preposterous as he has been stripped of his royal titles.

“This is an issue where plans have very clearly not been updated.”

Andrew has also consistently denied any wrongdoing and rejected accusations regarding his past friendship with Epstein.
