Emergency’s Life Support rescue ship
rescued a boat with about fifty migrants on board Monday morning
in international waters in the Libyan SAR zone.
Seven migrants died during the crossing, and two are in serious
condition due to suffocation, the NGO reports.
“The shipwrecked people,” Emergency explains, “reported they
departed at dawn on August 16 from Zuwara, and are originally
from Somalia and Egypt. A total of 50 people were rescued, 45
men and 5 women.
“There are 29 unaccompanied foreign minors, 26 men and 3 women.”
Emergency is asking “the competent authorities to assign a
nearby POS.”
The assigned port is Bari.
