Even If Turkey Gets Modernized F-16s, Greece Will Still Have A Technological Edge In Airpower

  1. I’m a little shocked Turkey is not going for the Eurofighter, especially as BAE and the UK government are helping with their 5th Gen.

  2. S-400 was a political deal, Ankara was upset at western allies, especially the U.S, after they pulled out patriot systems out of Turkey 1 week after we shot down a Russian jet. Short-sighted politicians gave up F-35s for S-400s because we almost got into a war with Russia with our allies not backing us up. The biggest benefit wasn’t even the F-35 itself, it was the economic and technology benefits. Every F-35 would have Turkish parts, and even the selected cruise missile of the F-35 was SOM-J developed by Turkey.

Sad part is, Turkey is developing its own air defence systems and a equivalent of S-400 will be in service by 2024 whereas Turkey’s 5th gen fighter will most likely be in service by 2030.

  3. F16 will be turning 45 soon, even with modernisations, them’s some old planes now..

Also we are really overdue for a talk about what we do when one nato member threatens another. Think Turkey needs to wake up and realise they can’t play all sides forever
