AKIPRESS.COM – The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, participated in a commemorative ceremony at the Park of Ancestors in Lakitelek, Hungary, at the invitation of H.E. Sándor Lezsák, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Lakitelek Foundation.
The ceremony was dedicated to honouring the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic world and strengthening the bonds between Hungary and the Turkic States.
During the visit, Secretary General Omuraliev paid tribute to the outstanding figures commemorated at the Pantheon of Peoples Related to Hungarians by laying floral tributes at their monuments. The tributes honoured Nizami Ganjavi, the renowned Azerbaijani poet and philosopher; Abai Kunanbaiuly, the distinguished Kazakh poet, philosopher and thinker; Sayakbay Karalaev, the legendary Kyrgyz manaschi and epic storyteller; Yunus Emre, the renowned Turkish poet and Sufi mystic; Alisher Navoi, the prominent Uzbek poet, thinker and statesman; and Magtymguly Pyragy, the distinguished Turkmen poet and philosopher.
The event was also attended by the Secretary General of TURKSOY, H.E. Sultan Raev, as well as representatives of the diplomatic missions of the OTS member states accredited in Hungary.
The ceremony provided an important opportunity to reaffirm the deep historical, cultural and spiritual ties connecting Hungary with the Turkic world and to underline the role of the Organization of Turkic States in fostering solidarity and cooperation among its member states.
