Lisbon is once again becoming an open-air stage for illusionists and magicians as the Lisboa Mágica street magic festival returns this Tuesday, August 18.
The 14th edition of the festival will feature 175 free performances across 13 public spaces, bringing together 15 artists from 10 countries.
Created in 2006 and directed by renowned Portuguese magician Luís de Matos, Lisboa Mágica showcases different styles and approaches to contemporary magic, with performances designed to bring artists into close contact with audiences.
Gardens, squares and other public spaces are being transformed into temporary stages throughout the festival, allowing passers-by to stop and watch the shows free of charge.
Performances will take place at Campo das Cebolas, Jardim Campo de Amoreiras, Jardim da Estrela, Jardim Fernando Pessa, Jardim Museu de Lisboa, Jardim Vasco da Gama, Largo do Carmo, Largo do Chiado, Palácio Baldaya, Parque Bensaúde, Praça de Campolide, Praça do Município and Praça Luís de Camões.
The festival forms part of the Lisboa Cultura programme and aims to showcase leading international street magicians while bringing live entertainment to different areas of the city.
