As a clueless Polish-American, do you think I can use Mexican style sour cream?

  1. Dude. Nobody in Poland eats mac and cheese willifuly. You have to ask fellow Americans

  2. It says- SEA SALT on it. Polish sour cream is not salty.
    So no.

  3. it says salt there, but if it isn’t overly salty then go for it, add some sugar for taste. if it’s salty you can skip the salt for the pasta i guess

  4. What are you trying to make? Mexican Crema has slightly more fat content than sour cream. They have similar tastes but different consistency.

  5. central americans are basically polish. they listen to polka, put sour cream on everything, and are constantly getting attacked by western or communist governments.

most of them don’t even like spicy food, that’s just the mexicans. try and find some hot sauce in el salvador and they’ll give you tabasco

  6. Poles aren’t Italians, no one will crucify you for picking unusual ingredient. Go wild

  7. Yes, it will work. That brand of sour cream is delicious and I use it all the time. Just make sure not to add any additional salt since your sour cream has it already.

  8. My mum would tell you to use quark/curd instead, but I was raised tolerant. Just don’t ask me to taste it.

  9. My family makes it with “sweet cream”, so the closest equivalent would be 35% whipping cream. Sweeten to taste.

  10. > Enriched Macaroni Product

… that’s sus as feck, bro.

  11. As long as no one is gonna be forced to eat whatever you are making, you have my blessing.

  12. Ok OP, listen to me brother, here are 2 recipes that will work for sure. 1st recipe is more like a dinner and 2nd is sort of desert.

    1. Ingredients: pasta (can be all shapes really but imo penne or ribbon will get the job done best), cottage cheese(optional), strawberries. Steps: smash with fork or blend strawberries; cook pasta and let it cool down(you can just let it sit in cold water – it will also prevents from sticking); mix everything together; add sugar if You wish. Remember that strawberries are the main part of this dish

    2. Ingredients: strawberries, mascarpone cheese, sugar powder Steps: Cut strawberries on quarters; mix mascarpone cheese with sugar powder (it should be creamy and slightly sweet); spread this mix on strawberries and ear together.

  13. If it is what they serve in Mexican restaurants, i.e. with burrito, than it’s the same.
But on the other hand I was only in Mexican restaurants in Poland, so maybe they were using generic of the shelf sour cream.
I stay eat however you like, is you feel Polish inside, then it will be Polish style dish. Edit: style.

  14. Polish American living in Mexico. No.

Edit: it’s not sour cream, it’s crema, which tastes slightly different but has different texture. I tried crema for a Polish dish (placki) and was not satisfied.

  15. I see this ingredients and think

Wash strawberries, slice up and put in a bowl with sugar over them – let them sit for like 15-30 minutes then use a potato masher to crush them

Add some sour cream and mix up –
Add sugar as needed then put this over fresh egg pasta

  16. No!! Absolutely not! If you do, a GROM team will break into your house and crucify you!

  17. Italian here. Please be informed that there’s nothing like “macaroni salad” here and we Italians deny any connection with product in picture.

  18. Oh hey there. I grew up in San Diego and married a Ukrainian from Lviv, so I have had smetana all over.

Mexican sour cream has regional variances bit it is generally a bit more runny than American. Like American anything though it has more of a salt bite and for any salt-sensitive dishes it has to be attenuated.

    Smachnoho!

  19. Mexican Crema isn’t as sour. It’s thinner because it has a higher fat content. Works great with spicy dishes and adds filling dimensions to meals. Same with crumbling cheeses.

  20. As a polish person living in America…this is like the worst options. You can buy regular sour cream at the gas station and this is what you went for lmao

  21. As a clueless Pole, I don’t know what Mexican style sour cream is.
