Stevenson School opens new science and math centers in Del Monte Forest

DEL MONTE FOREST, Calif. —

Stevenson School is opening two new academic centers this month, including the Day Science and Engineering Center and the John Senuta Math Center.

The buildings cover 36,000 square feet and replace the old science building, which was built in the late 1960s. The new facilities include an astronomy deck with a telescope platform.

One of the goals during construction was to ensure the buildings blended into the Del Monte Forest.

“The exterior of the building has a bio retention pond which is treating water on campus before it goes to our oceans. So we’re thrilled to have a building that works so seamlessly into the Del Monte Forest and pays tribute to that with its wood structure and design,” Chris Madil said.

Stevenson School staff also said that 100% of the funding for the project came from donors.
