“I have proposed […] to the Latvian prime minister that, in addition to the existing formats, […] we could meet once a year with the entire Cabinet of Ministers in Riga or Vilnius,” said Sinkevičius, adding that this would help with partnerships in various areas.
He added that cooperation could involve not only the areas of transport, defence or tackling illegal migration, but also fields like culture and education.
The head of Government, who is paying a two-day working visit to Latvia on Wednesday and Thursday, also suggested establishing the Janis Rainis Forum, where intellectuals and artists could meet and share knowledge, as well as discuss and explore shared interests by engaging in joint projects.
Moreover, the prime minister said the Government plans to establish the position of the attaché of culture at the Embassy of Lithuania in Riga.
The person holding the position would also be responsible for coordinating cultural cooperation with Estonia.
Lithuania currently has 11 cultural attachés covering 14 countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
