Could two of the most prominent Texans in the entertainment business team up on a TV show?
“It’s not any more of a thing than it was, or probably any less of a thing than it was that did hit the headlines there for a while,” he said on The Playlist’s Discourse podcast. “Taylor and I have spoken and have continued to have conversations about what [it could be] and if that would be whatever. But nothing’s real yet.”
Talk of the duo working together dates back to 2023, when Sheridan teased that McConaughey might join the Yellowstone universe. In the years since, that world has expanded substantially without an appearance from the Oscar winner. The main series ended in 2024 while spin-off 1923 ended in 2025. Two other spin-offs, Marshals and Dutton Ranch, premiered in 2026 without McConaughey.
McConaughey has kept busy in his own right. He starred in 2025’s The Lost Bus alongside America Ferrara and is promoting The Rivals of Amziah King, which arrived in theaters last week. He has also been spotted filming an upcoming Netflix movie titled Positano. He even met Pope Leo XIV this summer at the Vatican.
Time will tell if a Sheridan-led project winds up on McConaughey’s list of commitments.
