  1. Maybe our ears have become a litte bit more delicate due to covid and the lack of outdoor concerts over the last 2 years but they do seem particularly loud this year. Granted I found my first trip to the cinema post-covid unbearably loud. I’m officially old!

  2. “As far away as Bray” – Bray is less than 10 miles from Marley Park ffs. There are some amount of whingers around and the media is worse for airing them.

  3. Considering we could barely hear Weezer 500m away from the entrance in the queue on Monday evening and the fact that every time there was a strong gust of wind the sound got deadened, Im going to call bullshit that they could hear anything loud enough to disturb a child 16km away in Bray.

  4. There’s a particular type of moany cunt in Ireland, and they are consistently listened to, instead of having people laugh in their faces, as should be the case.

  5. Oh for god sake. We can hear the marquee gigs on cork quite clearly from my house. Orbital was, for some reason, extra loud! But they’re all over at like 10.30, or thereabouts. Only a few nights a year. Do ppl have nothing else to be worried about. Not like it’s noise until 2am!

  6. I’m in Bray and didn’t hear anything, must be those Shankill types who want to be in Bray complaining 😀

  7. So I live right beside Marlay, have for nearly 30 years since i was a child. Each year, they get better organised for residents (early years were a nightmare) .
I’m happy to see people enjoy the gigs young and old, last 2 years in particular have been tough so it’s good to see people have fun en mass.

Longitude is a younger crowd and usually more trouble but nothing outwardly outrageous. (Let’s see how the weekend goes maybe)

The way I see it is this, it’s only a few days in a year I’m inconvenienced. I got to listen to the Chilli Peppers who I haven’t seen live and was an early fan going back to Mothers Milk album era, so pretty cool opportunity to sit in my garden and have a bbq. Greenday, although I’m not a fan, sounded great and Guns n Roses covered The Stooges so I’m happy.

Marlay park used to be in bits. Over the years with gigs a lot of the money has gone into it with new pitches for hurling and cricket, new playgrounds, maintenance of ponds, re-planting native trees, Halloween events, outdoor cinemas etc etc

I’m all for it. Keep em going.

(Apart from Van Morrison, he’s not allowed back)

  8. Guns and roses came on stage at 7, RHCP came on at 9? Anyone know why the difference? Thought 7 was a good time for a built up area as it was over by 10

  9. Missed Amyl and the Sniffers on Monday due to the shitshow with the queue and couldn’t hear them from the entrance of Marlay Park

  10. I live a few hundred metres from Marlay and I could hear Green Day and Guns n Roses clear as day but I couldn’t hear RHCP at all. Like did they change the layout or something for that gig? It was so odd

  11. Off topic but why when there is two 50k + seater stadiums in the middle of Dublin, with ample bars, toilets and public transport connections do these concerts get put on in parks, with shitty portapotties, no cover from inevitable rain and not enough bars? When I was in my early 20s I would have hated the prospect of sitting in a seat at any gig but now I’m closer to 40 I would happily pay for a seat at the aviva to watch RHCP, but stand in a field in the rain? No chance

  12. “oh no I can hear some music on a few summer evenings”

What a bunch of sad losers honestly, doing fuck all and demand everyone else does the same

  13. I live at the edge of the M50 relatively near to Marlay Park, never heard a thing in my direction for any of the gigs
