Ross Oldham and his partner, Sharon Knocker, will travel to Iceland after he referred her to join a health club during a campaign, which ran across all 67 Bannatyne health clubs in association with the new Masters of the Universe film.
The prize includes return flights to Reykjavik, three nights in a four-star hotel, a South Iceland tour taking in glaciers, waterfalls and black-sand beaches, a Northern Lights and stargazing experience, a visit to a geothermal spa and a three-course meal at a Viking restaurant.
Oldham, 37, is a supervisor for a demolition company and has been a member at Kingsford Park club for the past three months but was stunned when told that he had won.
Ross said: “I couldn’t believe it. You always hear about people winning competitions but never expect it to be you.
“The prize is unbelievable. We can’t wait to go, especially the geothermal spa. That’s been on Sharon’s bucket list for ages.
“I love coming to Bannatyne Health Club. Everyone’s really friendly, the club’s always spotless and it’s somewhere I can come after work to switch off and relax.”
Duncan Bannatyne, chairman and chief executive of Bannatyne Group, said: “Refer A Friend is about encouraging people to take that first step towards a healthier lifestyle. We’re delighted Ross has won this incredible Iceland adventure and hope it inspires even more people to enjoy getting active together.”
