‘Groping’ Tory MP Chris Pincher says he’s seeking ‘professional medical support’

  1. lol Reminds me of those American actors and politicians that get caught doing something screwed up or awful and try to frame it as a medical problem

“I’m seeking therapy, trying to understand how to better myself as a person, learning how to grow as a person and find the strength to resist the demons in my life”

  2. I don’t understand why people keep saying this as if it’s somehow a mitigating factor, it just makes them look even more shameless in my opinion, like it’s not his fault he sexually assaulted some people, he just needs a psychiatrist to explain to him not to touch people who haven’t consented…

  3. He is not giving up his parliamentary seat and he really don’t mind giving the two fingers as the Tories cannot on any account afford to lose another by-election so soon after losing the last few so they don’t actually want him to resign which gives Pincher plenty of room to take the piss, like saying he is getting medical help, until the next GE with Tory support.

  4. Presumably his grouping isn’t a result of a physical infliction, this if he is getting medical help it is a mental infliction.
I am wary of disregarding any mental illness anyone can have. But does any one know of a real mental illness that he may suffer from that would result in him groping a woman (or anyone), or is this a cynical response to being called out for being an entitled pervert?

  5. This is a deflection tactic

You see if he is seeking medical advice ‘he’ himself is not the problem, but some external disease which is outside of him and not part of him made him do it.

  6. Ok and ?

So what does that change anything? Does it ungrope people?

He should just fuck off and live in a hole why bother making statements like this? Does he think there is another tory seat for him down the line?

  7. On the one hand:

    * Fair play to him admitting he fucked up massively and seeking support. I wish more people would admit fault in public like this.

    * You can’t claim to be in favour of a justice system that focuses more on reform and understanding of people with dangerous tendencies and then want the harshest punishments for someone just because you don’t like their affiliations.

    But:

    * He’s done this before. In 2017, he was reported to have been sexually aggressive towards a Conservative activist.

    * I absolutely believe he should have been arrested. He’s sexually assaulted two people, admitted it and there is a wealth of evidence to build a tight case.

    * He should stand down as MP. This kind of conduct is unacceptable for a public representative.

It’s tricky because cases like this just provide evidence for why Johnson’s ‘deflect, deny, dismiss’ approach is politically more practical, and I fucking hate that. I feel like at this point there needs to be temporary incentives to encourage MPs to admit fault and resign if necessary, because I don’t know how you can swing the needle back on this toxic culture in Parliament otherwise.

  8. For what being a sex criminal? Oh I meed professional medical support to help me not be a Tory sex criminal. He needs jailing. He thought it was his right to do it because he’s an important Tory boy. Not acceptable. He sexually assaulted a person.

  9. What, through the NHS, or is he paying out of his own, then claim it back through expense’s. Will the help be for being a sex pest, or for his drinking habits.

  10. Not in his constituency he won’t. Our mental health centre was burnt down and as far as I know/can tell it still hasn’t fully reopened (if at all). We don’t even have a police station anymore, we’re lucky we have 1 fire engine.

  11. Unless he’s going for alcoholism treatment I don’t think there is good evidenced based treatment for being a gropey wanker. Maybe sex addiction treatment? It’s an interesting argument. At what point can you medicalise shitty behaviour? If he is genuinely an alcoholic and did this whilst pissed, as bad as it is at least alcoholism is a recognisable disease. As far as I know getting drunk and acting like a cunt however, is not a disease.
