What was causing the rising cost of living before the ukraine war?
Surely unrelated to the western world embarking on massive borrowing backed government spending and telling large swathes of the workforce to stay a home.
Maybe it had to be done, that’s grand, but lets be honest about the hangover that that is causing now and deal with it responsibly.
What’s the point of a Taoiseach who doesn’t believe he has any power to influence the goings on of the country he governs?
Standard responses from both sides
Hahah
this is like a neo godwins law
nut job
Welcome to the dumbest timeline
Wouldn’t governments being destabilised by rising prices also be part of Putins plan, and wouldn’t keeping the cost of living low through tax cuts or whatever be a way to defeat Putins plan?
He’s falling into the Sinn Fein trap so cos he blames them for all
This war is a godsend for governments in the west. They can blame everything on Putin, knowing the media wont question them and the public are too transfixed with love island to care.
Again this fucking idiot lies, look up the inflation rates. It was 6% before Christmas. That fact he is blaming it on Putin is embarrassing.
Both sides talking absolutely codswallop
Yeah its russias fault our rents are sky high cause FFG needs to appease its incel landlord friends
More fool anybody who believes him.
The reality is that the mishandling of the Covid pandemic by western governments who engaged in an over the top and excessively conservative response has been the primary driver of the current cost of living crisis.
Yes, Russia’s war on Ukraine has also exacerbated this but he’s trying to obfuscate & deflect with suggestions that we could have just printed off and spent billions and billions of euro and then carried on like nothing had happened with a 1.8% inflation rate.
It’s worse than naive, it’s totally dishonest. That being said, I’m not sure what Sinn Fein are crying about – they wanted to print and spend even more ffs
Oh ok you have my vote back…….. Waaaait a minute……. ya nearly got me Micko, good one.
Blame everything on Russia yet Philip Lane was saying this is just a “pandemic inflation cycle”.
If the government removed the taxes on petrol/Diesel the costs for many of our producers would decrease…same goes for power as well…
A lad in work, does a bit of construction on the side, and the cost of getting stuff delivered has almost tripled in the past few months…that’s down to taxes/excise on fuel alone
blame covid, blame putin, its not like this has been a crisis for almost a decade
Fuck off. The cost of living was getting out of control before the war.
I’m not sure anyone can take this idiot serious..sure we never bailed out the banks.
Fuckin Putin legislating in the Dáil for minimum unit pricing and the highest tobacco duty, car tax, energy prices, rent and fuel costs in the EU
Lol, this is like when Water Protestors were being compared to ISIS
Easier to blame it on Putin than shutting down the global supply chain for 2 years
Taoiseach,
If you could please stop saying such shite that means I’m having to defend SF, I’d appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Person planning on having FF be second last choice next election.
We are the most expensive country in the EU.
Implying there are 26 other “cheaper” countries in the EU.
Who else am I gonna blame?
Seriously.
Michael Martin can do one
This guy is shrugging and scratching his head all the way to that sweet pension.
I guess it’s possible that someone could toke so much during their UCC years that they can’t even remember doing it when questioned in a live tv debate.
Fuck off taoiseach.
Nothing to do with the trillions printed in the last few years
FFG could run against Hitler’s corpse and still lose.
Whoever is printing all the money going around isn’t helping
God forbid you have to accept responsibility for the failings of your own party.
