Apollo Global Management disclosed on August 21 that hackers used social engineering, posing as IT helpdesk staff, to breach its cloud systems between July 6 and July 10, exposing employees’ Social Security numbers and personal data. The attack matches a campaign Google’s Threat Intelligence Group warned weeks earlier was targeting Blackstone, Bridgewater, Bain Capital and other financial giants.
