Icelandic blues-rock band KALEO will return to Australia and New Zealand in February 2027 for the Way Down Under We Go Tour, with shows confirmed in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. The tour follows a new North American run and comes during a year in which the band has marked the 10th anniversary of its breakthrough album, A/B, with a deluxe edition.
KALEO formed in Mosfellsbær, near Reykjavík, in 2012 and developed from a local Icelandic act into an international touring band following the release of A/B in 2016. The album produced the global hit ‘Way Down We Go’, alongside ‘All The Pretty Girls’, ‘No Good’ and ‘I Can’t Go On Without You’.
The scale of the band’s international audience has been driven in large part by ‘Way Down We Go’. The song has accumulated billions of streams and has been certified five times Platinum in Australia. A/B itself has sold more than one million copies worldwide, while the band’s wider catalogue has generated extensive streaming and licensing activity.
The February 2027 Australian and New Zealand dates will take place as KALEO continues its international touring cycle. The band is currently undertaking a 28-date North American tour before heading further into its global schedule.
KALEO’s catalogue now spans four studio albums: the self-titled Kaleo, released in 2013; A/B, released in 2016; Surface Sounds, released in 2021; and Mixed Emotions, released in 2025. The band also issued the Glasshouse EP in 2013. Mixed Emotions was released on 9 May 2025 through Elektra Records.
The 2026 A/B 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition has provided a further link to the period that established KALEO internationally. A/B followed the band’s move from Iceland to the United States after signing with Atlantic Records in 2015. The group relocated to Austin, Texas, and began building a larger North American audience through touring and festival appearances.
‘Way Down We Go’ remains the defining recording from that period. Released as a single in 2015, it became a major international success and has since been certified at multiple levels across different territories, including five times Platinum in Australia and two times Platinum in the United States. ‘No Good’ earned KALEO a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance.
The band’s music has also maintained a substantial presence beyond conventional radio and album consumption. ‘Way Down We Go’ has been used across television series, film trailers and advertising, while KALEO songs have appeared in video games including FIFA 16, Madden NFL 17 and NHL 18.
KALEO’s touring history includes appearances at Byron Bay Bluesfest, SXSW and major international festivals, as well as support performances for artists including The Lumineers and The Rolling Stones. The band has also undertaken headline tours across North America and Europe.
The Australian and New Zealand shows will give KALEO an opportunity to bring material from Mixed Emotions together with songs from across its catalogue, including the recordings that established the band beyond Iceland. The tour will begin in Perth on 10 February 2027 before moving through Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.
