Latvia will expand its support for Ukrainian service members by taking in an additional 200 wounded defenders for rehabilitation.
Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs announced this during a speech at a ceremony to raise Ukraine’s National Flag, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Kulbergs noted that Latvia has stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In this context, he recalled that his country helped defend Hostomel Airport by supplying the first symbolic Stinger systems, while Latvians have already delivered 4,000 vehicles directly to Ukrainian troops on the front line.
“We are helping in every way we can. Thousands of your wounded service members are undergoing rehabilitation in Latvia. We want to do more, and we are now finding additional opportunities to admit another 200 servicemen,” Kulbergs said.
According to the Prime Minister, Ukrainians have proved through their blood and sweat that Ukraine is part of Europe.
“Together, we will achieve peace in Ukraine. The people of Latvia stand with you. Today, I bring you greetings from every one of them,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

As reported, the Latvian government approved the reallocation of €4.96 million to cover the cost of medical services provided to Ukrainian civilians in the country.
