ROME, N.Y. — Members of the Rome Police Department Patrol Division said they recently responded to an address in the 700 block of North James Street for a report of suspicious activity.

Police said that the caller reported that four males had attempted to enter a residence before leaving the area in a black Nissan Sentra. A Rome Police Department patrol officer subsequently located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, according to a news release.

The vehicle was occupied by five individuals, according to police.

During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. A search resulted in the recovery of a loaded .45-caliber handgun. The firearm was determined to have been reported stolen from the village of Frankfort.

As a result of the investigation, police said they arrested:

– Noah Johnson, 21, Rome.

– Khalil Jones-Colvin, 22, Rome.

– Damian Bergman, 20, Rome.

– De’Antae Jones, 22, Rome.

– Kaylee Bennett, 28, Rome and said they charged them with:

– second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony.

– third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony.

– fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony.

– criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony.

Police say this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
