Born in February 1958, the diplomat who hails from Benue State is married and has seven children.
He holds a degree in Theology from St. Augustine’s Major Seminary in Jos, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Benue State University in Makurdi.
Before entering diplomatic service, Adikwu spent several decades in education, serving in teaching and school leadership positions in Benue State.
He began his career as a teacher at Holy Rosary Secondary School in Adoka, where he served from 1985 to 1995. He subsequently served as Principal of St. Joseph Secondary School, Auke, from 1995 to 2000.
After a period away from school leadership, he returned to administration as Vice Principal for Administration at Okalekwo Community Secondary School, Aune–Aloka, from 2006 to 2010.
He later taught at Otukpo Community Secondary School from 2010 to 2013 before becoming the institution’s Principal, a position he held from 2013 to 2018.
His diplomatic engagement with the Holy See comes amid longstanding relations between Nigeria and the Catholic Church, which has maintained a significant presence in the West African country through its extensive network of dioceses, schools, healthcare institutions and social development initiatives.
The presentation of his Letters of Credence gives Adikwu a renewed opportunity to represent Nigeria in its diplomatic relations with the Holy See and to engage with the Vatican on issues of mutual interest.
