Malta’s search for Junior Eurovision 2026 commences on September 7 with the start of The Voice Kids Malta.
PBS has announced that The Voice Kids Malta will start on September 7, as Malta selects its representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on home soil in Ta’ Qali. The contest will be aired on weekdays. The exact number of shows and the date of the final has not been announced.
An application process for The Voice Kids Malta was held earlier this year, closing in mid June. Singers were able to apply with an original song with which they wished to compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. However, the finalists will be invited to a songwriting camp, where an original song will be written for them.
Malta is one of three countries that is using The Voice Kids to select their Junior Eurovision 2026 representative. The others are Poland and Portugal.
Eliza Borg represented Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “I Believe”. She finished 11th with 92 points.

Malta debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and has gone on to win the contest twice. In 2013, on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the contest with “The Start”. She was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015, Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia with the song “Not My Soul”. The country has hosted the contest in 2014 and 2016, and will host again in 2026. This will make Malta the first country to host Junior Eurovision three times.
