Indian equity markets remain under pressure as Nifty slips below 24,200 on the monthly expiry, marking the index’s first monthly expiry under the new CAS framework. The Sensex extends losses for a second straight session, while market breadth remains weak as declines outpace advances.
Most sectors trade in the red, with consumer durables and pharma stocks bucking the broader trend. The broader markets remain mixed, with midcaps managing to eke out modest gains.
In the primary market, Sunshine Pictures lists at a 10% premium, while Shankesh Jewellers makes a strong debut with an 11% premium over its issue price.
Meanwhile, Brent crude falls over 1% to around $90 a barrel, offering some relief amid ongoing market concerns. US stock futures edge higher after comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on an “economic outcast operation.”
Among Nifty 50 stocks, Adani Enterprises, Apollo Hospitals and Max Healthcare emerge as top gainers, while Grasim, Cipla, Wipro and HCLTech lead the losers.
