POTTSVILLE — Blueberry beer?
America’s oldest brewery, Pottsville’s own D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc., will have it — part of the Eagle Series — 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
“Join us at the Brewery,” says the Yuengling preview in the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Member Happenings.
“Yuengling Blueberry Beer is a light, Pilsner-style beer with a ripe blueberry flavor,” according to the “Happenings.”
“This is a slightly sweet, refreshing fruit-forward beer with notable blueberry character. The lighter Pilsner base provides a crisp, clean, easy-drinking profile with a smooth malt background. There is restrained bitterness, which allows the blueberry aroma and flavor to naturally express itself without overpowering the beer.”
So there … you have it.
The brewery is located at 420 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.
The gathering will also include Messy Pig Food Truck from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. plus trivia by Points Up Entertainment from 5 to 7 p.m.
Chamber issues alert to back Head Start
POTTSVILLE — The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee has issued a “chamber advocacy alert” about proposed changes it said could impact Head Start families and providers.
The chamber’s Anthony Merchlinsky forward the alert via the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children (PennAEYC) that headlined: “Action Needed: Help us protect Head Start.”
According to the release, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services proposed changes to the Head Start Program Performance Standards that “represent the largest ever overhaul of the standards, eliminating many of them. If enacted, these changes would have a significant negative impact on the children and families served and the services that they receive.”
The changes, according to the release, include: Removing quality teaching and learning standards; eliminating health and safety standards; removing additional services for children with disabilities and removing suspension and expulsion prohibitions.
The release urged people to “tell you policy markers to protect Head Start” and also referred people to https://startstrongpa.org/take-action.

Taste of Hamburger a delicious festival
HAMBURG — The Our Town Foundation’s annual Taste of Hamburger Festival has been set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 5, rain or shine, in downtown Hamburg.
The event, according to a release, will include more than 80 burger/food vendors, a hamburger eating contest, four stages of non-stop entertainment, beer/wine gardens open until 7 p.m., best burger contests, a dine-and-dash race, artisans and crafters as well as children’s activities.
The foundation also has sent out a call for vendors to “join the flavor explosion” at the festival.

Demographics introduction in chamber’s happenings
Via the Schuylkill Lunchbox powered by Penn State, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Member Happenings heralds “An Introduction to Demographics” and its effects on finance and human capital management, set for 11 a.m. to noon Sept. 3, live via Zoom.

ORWIGSBURG — The Orwigsburg Area Business & Professional Association’s 2026 Orwigsburg Community Farmers Market is included in the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce’s Member Happenings report.
The Orwigsburg markets are held 4 to 8 p.m. the last Thursday of the month at the M&T Bank community lot. Remaining dates for the market include Aug. 27, Sept. 24 and Oct. 15.

PSU program aims at getting organized
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — As part of the Penn State Schuylkill LaunchBox effort, a presentation titled “Let’s Get Organized with Seth,” featuring Seth Hubler, M.A., is set for noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17.

Hubler’s focus will be, “How a busy Schuylkill County professional balances it all.”
According to the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce’s Member Happenings, Hubler, communications director for the office of state Sen. David G. Argall (R-29) “wears many hats and wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Performances remain at Tamaqua Train Station
TAMAQUA — Two performances remain in the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series of free musical entertainment at the platform of the historic Tamaqua Train Station (weather permitting).
People are welcome to bring their own chairs or blankets for the 6:30 to 8 p.m. shows for which food trucks are available.
Remaining performances include the Stained Glass Road Band on Aug. 27 featuring “uplifting and inspirational music” sponsored by the Tamaqua Area Faith Network and Hatter on Sept. 3 doing favorite pop, rock, dance hits and originals sponsored by Mauch Chunk Trust.

Fresh Off the Farm event in September
PINE GROVE — The Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce has announced the event called Fresh Off the Farm, a “farm to table experience,” is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 at Pioneer Pole Buildings Barndominium, 918 Long Run Road, and it’s open to the public.
The evening, according to the release, will bring together local farms, wineries and agribusinesses to “showcase the people and products that help feed our community. Stroll through the outdoor venue, meet the farmers behind your favorite local products and learn more about the impact agriculture has on Schuylkill County.”
Fresh Off the Farm will feature “farm-fresh flavors … locally sourced ingredients, wine tastings, live country music and the opportunity to connect with the businesses that make our local food system thrive.”
