The Rotary Club of Winona is proud to be part of that tradition, helping local students take part in this life-changing experience, while bringing the world back to the community through international friendships and cultural exchange.
In this series, Rotary will introduce you to its local outbound exchange student, Morwyn Johnson, sharing her stories from abroad.
From Morwyn: “I’m spending a year abroad in the Czech Republic for my third year of high school. Throughout this year, I will learn and go to school in a different language, live with different host families, and get to share my culture and experiences with people across the world. One of the many great things about Rotary is the connections you make with people you would have never otherwise met, not only in your day-to-day life abroad, but also connecting with other exchange students, uniting teens across the world. Already, I have met many exchange students while at home, and even though I’ve only been in Czechia for three days, I’ve already made friends with six other exchange students and two kids from my town. While exchange can be scary and difficult at times, it is also one of the most impactful and important things a person can do, both in their own life and others. Truly every kid should try to do an exchange if they get the chance because it will change your life forever.”
