Bulgaria’s national carrier, Bulgaria Air will add extra flights linking Sofia and Burgas in May for Eurovision 2027.

Bulgaria Air, the national carrier of the host nation of Eurovision 2027, Bulgaria, has announced that extra flights will be added on the Sofia to Burgas route to aid in transporting fans to the host city. From May 2 to May 19, up to two daily flights will link the capital Sofia to the Eurovision 2027 host city of Burgas. Each day, the current evening flight will run, with Extra mid day flights in the days leading up to the contest starting on May 9. After the final of Eurovision 2027 final on May 15, extra morning flights will run to help fans get back from Burgas to Sofia, the morning flights will run from May 17 to 19.

The extra flights will be flown with Bulgaria Air’s Airbus A220 aircraft which seats 160 to 164 passengers. The extra flights are on sale to book as of August 25th, 2026 with both a business class and economy class cabin on sale.

Burgas Airport is still in talks with airlines to add extra flights and new routes ahead of Eurovision 2027, meaning other flights from other airlines on new routes could still be added in the coming months.

Eurovision 2027 is not the first time Bulgaria Air has been involved with a Eurovision event; in 2015, Bulgaria Air was the official carrier of Junior Eurovision 2015, which was hosted in Sofia. The airline celebrated this role by playing that year’s event anthem song, “Discover” on board its aircraft during the event.

Burgas will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest after Dara’s victory in Vienna. The coastal city of Burgas is host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 on May 11, 13 and 15.

The song that Dara performed in Vienna was called “Bangaranga”. It was written and composed by Anne Judith Wik, Cristian Tarcea, Darina Yotova (Dara), Dimitris Kontopoulos. The result brings Bulgaria its first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest. DARA is also the first artist since Salvador Sobral in 2017 to win both the public and jury votes. Prior to this, the country’s best result was second place, achieved by Kristian Kostov in 2017. Bulgaria emerged as a dark horse winner, that climbed rapidly in the betting odds after the second rehearsal.
