Austria’s national carrier, Austrian Airlines, will add extra flights linking last year’s host city, Vienna, to Burgas in May for Eurovision 2027.

Austrian Airlines, the national carrier of last year’s host nation of Eurovision, Austria, has announced that extra flights will be added on the Vienna to Burgas route to aid in transporting fans to the host city. From May 8 to May 22, flights will link Vienna to the Eurovision 2027 host city of Burgas.

Austrian Airlines has operated flights to Burgas since the summer of 2025, with normally up to 3 flights a week run; however, these services have in the past not run until mid-June. In the summer of 2027, Austrian Airlines will start its Burgas service on May 8th ahead of Eurovision 2027. Flights will run on May 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 21 and 22. The flight will leave Vienna at 3:50 pm local time and land at 6:40 pm local time in Burgas. While returning flights will leave at 7:20 pm local time and land in Vienna at 8:10 pm local time. Flights will be operated on the A320. The connections in Vienna will link Burgas to the full Austrian Airlines network, which includes flights to the USA and Asia.

Burgas Airport is still in talks with airlines to add extra flights and new routes ahead of Eurovision 2027, meaning other flights from other airlines on new routes could still be added in the coming months. So far, Bulgaria’s national carrier, Bulgaria Air, has already announced plans to add extra flights linking Sofia and Burgas.

Eurovision 2027

Burgas will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest after Dara’s victory in Vienna. The coastal city of Burgas is the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 on May 11, 13 and 15.

The song that Dara performed in Vienna was called “Bangaranga”. It was written and composed by Anne Judith Wik, Cristian Tarcea, Darina Yotova (Dara), Dimitris Kontopoulos. The result brings Bulgaria its first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest. DARA is also the first artist since Salvador Sobral in 2017 to win both the public and jury votes. Prior to this, the country’s best result was second place, achieved by Kristian Kostov in 2017. Bulgaria emerged as a dark horse winner, that climbed rapidly in the betting odds after the second rehearsal.
