Official Turkish inflation keeps on rising: 78,62% vs 73,50 last month

  1. Mind, this is the OFFICIAL inflation. If Turkish Redditors and the Turkish Inflation Resarch Group are correct, this is still way lower then the real inflation (April was said to be 143%. Considering the rise those days the real inflation would be around 160 or more, probably)

  2. Why isn’t this madman increasing interest rates? Is he still printing money? What’s up with his monetary policy, can someone with knowledge explain?

It seems like he’s doing some really basic economic errors

  3. How does this even practically work for employed turkish people or prices in general? Do they just automatically increase all prices every month? How would a contract to for example getting a new roof installed work where the contractor has to purchase the materials first and then find time to renovate the roof? That process could take a few months maybe if there are some special demands by the homeowner.

Its a pretty big shitshow in germany and we are “only” at like 8% (even if you consider its probably more like 20% in reality that difference to the official rate would also be happening in turkey right?), with people demanding raises, people changing buying habbits and contractors having issues scheduling prices and so on.
