The Latin American International Tourism Fair (FIT) formally presented its 30th edition, which will take place from September 26 to 29 at La Rural in Buenos Aires. The event will occupy more than 20,000 square meters of exhibition space and bring together more than 350 exhibitors. This time, the Dominican Republic will participate as the guest country, driven by a 120% increase in inbound tourism to Argentina following the implementation of the visa waiver for its citizens.
“Reaching 30 editions is much more than celebrating a date: it is celebrating a history built by everyone who is part of tourism”, said Andrés Deyá, president of the fair and of the Argentine Federation of Associations of Travel and Tourism Companies (FAEVYT). “This anniversary edition finds us with a renewed FIT, with new spaces, new business opportunities and an agenda that reflects the transformations our industry is going through”, he added.
During the presentation of the tourism event, the National Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli, highlighted the coordinated work between the public and private sectors to achieve the largest national representation at the show. The official valued the presence of the Caribbean country and stressed the national government’s decision to remove the visa requirement for travelers from the Dominican Republic, China and India. For her part, the Director of Tourism Marketing at the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism, Jennifer Elias Franjul, confirmed that the delegation will showcase its gastronomic, cultural and natural attractions proposal to the region’s professionals and public.

Among the main highlights of the event is the First International Sports Tourism Forum, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29. FIT is a strategic showcase for the City and a driver of development for the sector, said Valentín Díaz Gilligan, president of the Buenos Aires tourism board. “Our goal is to boost sports tourism, one of the segments that moves the most visitors and generates opportunities for the City”, he explained.
The exhibition will keep its commercial thematic sectors FIT Tech, FIT Food & Market, FIT Outdoor, FIT Cruceros, FIT Fashion & Travel and FIT B2B, along with its usual business rounds. The fair will open its doors to the general public on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, while the sessions on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September will be dedicated exclusively to industry professionals between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
