Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has said that the country’s crude oil sales and deliveries to international customers are continuing uninterrupted outside Iranian territorial waters, despite what he described as America’s illegal economic war against the country.
Paknejad stated on Thursday that the process of selling and delivering crude oil has continued despite recent US-led blockades, Iran’s English-language Press TV reports.
“I will not go into details, as this is information that, if disclosed, could be exploited by the enemy,” Paknejad said.
He noted that in recent periods, Iran has successfully transferred a significant portion of its oil to designated customer delivery points.
“Up to this moment, the sales process outside our territorial waters and in distant seas has continued throughout the intervals between the blockades we have faced,” he added, affirming that the ministry is diligently pursuing all necessary measures to sustain this vital economic lifeline.
On 24 August, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent launched “Operation Economic Outcast”, a sweeping initiative that, according to its stated aim, would cut Iran off from the global economy by severing its remaining sources of revenue and international financial connections.
Despite the administration’s rhetoric about cutting off “every remaining lifeline”, the campaign conspicuously avoids directly confronting the People’s Republic of China.
As The Wall Street Journal recently reported, Washington has proven highly reluctant to seriously confront Beijing over its support for Iran, paralysed by fears of triggering broader economic or military retaliation from the world’s second-largest economy, Press TV said.
