US banking regulators have finalised new standards intended to concentrate supervision and enforcement on material financial risks, raising the threshold for formal findings based on process, documentation and other non-financial weaknesses.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said on August 27 they had adopted a final rule establishing a uniform definition of an “unsafe or unsound practice” for enforcement and supervisory purposes.
