Don’t worry the perpetually outrage will find something to be outrage about
The acquisitions and leased sections of that are not good news for middle income earners who can’t get social housing.
It’s not good news because it’s not the 20,000 or so units that we actually need.
Worth noting that “turn key” properties acquired from the private market are counted as “new builds”. It’s unclear how much of that was actually build by councils and other AHBs
75% new build is bullshit statistical manipulation.
Hard for believe these numbers tbh
I’ve a disabled 1 year old, and I’ve been told we’ve to wait 8-10 years for a house/apartment. She doesn’t necessarily need special adaptions. She requires multiple open heart surgeries in the future so we’ve to be local to the hospital in case of heart failure etc.
I’d love to buy my own house and would be able to, but the banks don’t see me being fit as I’m single with a child with a disability, and I’ve a car loan. I do have HAP, but I don’t use it as there’s a housing crisis.
I had to leave the father of my child during my pregnancy due to him relapsing which led to domestic abuse, and I got an emergency protection order since. He’s in jail now for a while but when he’s out he knows where I live which makes me more nervous. So more protection orders. I’m stuck at all other possibilities. 🙃
Tds have been contacted, supporting doctor and social worker letters have been provided and no use. 🙃
Some of the places the HSE buy are insane, I do work for the HSE and some of these homes where people with needs stay are far far far to big for what they need, the maintenance men would tell you the same, the size of the houses and the amount of land that is with them is madness. And for the most part the people with needs are put into a wheelchair and left in the sitting room for most of the day, just can’t see the sense in buying a massive 5 bed house with a load of land while the person with needs can’t leave the sitting room or bedroom.
I know I sound a bit of a prick and I’m really not trying to sound like one but of you seen some of the places I have done work on you would say the same, has to be a racket of some sort going on behind closed doors as to why they buy up these big massive houses with massive gardens…..and the gardens are completely bear of anything just grass so they are not even using the land for outdoor activities some do but most of the places don’t
How is this good news?
Isn’t this just the state buying up houses at developer sky high prices outbidding potential first time buyers, family buyers etc using tax payers money?
I know you were trying to be positive OP but that article falls well short, FF/FG will never sort this shite.
Why does 9k homes only remove 3.7k families?
Oh great, homes snatched away from the open marken and given away to scrotes and scumbags at the tax payers expense, while regular folks are trying their hardest to save up for a house while getting rode by the state for income tax that is pissed away, and rent money to scummy landlords.
Heh, “over 9000”
there is a flaw, a good portion of these homes are basically being bought from the private sector, which causes problems for private market buyers who don’t often qualify for social housing. that being said in positive news in my local area a new council estate was built for the public and it has new residents
We need to be supplying 30k new houses annually and we’re supposed to celebrate failure?
Has to be FF or FG Seeing a lot of this stuff lately. ‘It’s not too bad,the government is trying hard’ etc etc, More BS
