LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Trump administration has announced a plan to give farmers and ranchers more freedom to process their own product.
President Donald Trump shared the announcement via Truth Social Friday morning, saying legal documents are currently being created to ease processing restrictions.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said more details will be released starting Monday. She said the plans include:
Cutting red tape in processingLetting ranchers sell across state lines more easilyRescinding outdated guidanceAdding technology for faster safety dataSupporting small processors through funding and deregulationFighting consolidation so small processors can competeExpanding truth-in-labeling requirements
