Agentrys has raised $24.5 million to develop an agentic design automation platform that enables semiconductor engineering teams to build, customize and continuously improve AI agents for chip development.
The funding consists of an oversubscribed $19.1 million seed round led by Etna Labs following a $5.4 million pre-seed financing led by MediaTek, Agentrys’ first strategic investor.
The company will use the capital for hiring, agent-native tooling and additional customer engagements spanning chip verification and physical design.
Agentrys was founded by Mark Ren, who brings nearly three decades of electronic design automation and AI research experience from NVIDIA Research and IBM Research.
Ren previously led ChipNeMo, described by Agentrys as the first industrial large language model designed for chip development.
The company calls its approach Agentic Design Automation.
Rather than providing chip designers with a fixed collection of vendor-controlled AI agents, Agentrys provides an open platform through which customers can build and own agentic engineering workforces tailored to their own tools, infrastructure and processes.
A design intelligence layer continuously learns from customer data, usage and evaluation signals, while specialized models and agent-native tools expand the tasks agents can perform.
Agentrys has demonstrated an autonomous multi-agent workflow that took a 32-bit CPU from specification through a sign-off-clean GDS layout without human involvement.
On NVIDIA’s public CVDP verification benchmark, the company said its technology is among the first to exceed 90% accuracy.
Agentrys is already working with several major fabless semiconductor companies, a leading global foundry and chip startups across digital and analog design flows.
The team includes engineers and researchers from NVIDIA, Meta, AMD, Samsung, Google and Siemens.
KEY QUOTE:
“We help engineering teams turn manual workflows into an agentic workforce that designs chips faster, delivers better results, and systematically improve in capability over time. That’s the difference between renting capability everyone else can rent and building an asset that compounds for you alone.”
