Units of the Royal Navy intercepted a wooden boat on Saturday, 185 km southwest of Dakhla, carrying 201 would-be irregular migrants who were attempting to reach the Canary Islands.
The rescued passengers, including women and minors, were brought safely back to the fishing village of Roc-Chico, 190 km southwest of Dakhla, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
After receiving the necessary care on board, they were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures.
