(KCRG) – If you use natural gas to heat your home or cook, your monthly bill could get a little bit cheaper.
The Iowa Utilities Commission ordered Wednesday that Alliant Energy must lower natural gas rates for Iowa customers by nearly $2.6 million.
The ruling says Alliant’s Iowa subsidiary, Interstate Power and Light Company, charged customers for their chartered jet flights.
It also said savings Alliant saw from worker buyouts and outsourcing its call centers were not reflected to consumers.
There are more than 200,000 Alliant Energy natural gas customers in the state.
Residential customers will see a reduction of $0.01886 per therm of natural gas used.
