Ben Bradshaw MP: It is imperative that Labour commits to electoral reform in its next manifesto

  1. starmer would rather form a coalition with the tories like labour have in scotland, than actually upset the establishment.

  2. Yes please. Regardless of political stance we need:

    1. Electoral reform
    2. Fortification of oversight and standards from MPs

They benefit everyone who wants their voice heard and their elected officials to stick to their promises.

  3. No fucking chance unless Labour win by a tiny minority.. even then Slippery Starmer may promise the earth to the Lib Dems then, as usual, claim he can’t cos reason Y or excuse X.
The man tore up his manifesto, and u turned on facepalm policies like renationalising the energy companies, taxing private tuition fees…

  4. STV is essential if we want any kind of political reform long-term.

Labour’s lack of support for electoral reform is a stain on the party, and always has been.

  5. FPTP has to go, but I’m not convinced that PR is a good alternative. Larger, multi-representative constituencies elected via STV would probably be my choice. Party lists just reek of corruption.

  6. And the rest. Actual independent oversight of MPs, upholding MPs to standards, making it a crime to knowingly mislead parliament, introduction of a proper tender process that’s overseen by a watch dog, vote on being a Republic etc. Oh and codifying the public’s expectations of MPs and MP behaviour. No more unwritten rules.

  7. As a conservative, this is the only thing labour could do to get my vote. Bojo is doing some really messed up stuff, and I’d really like to vote in a way that better represents me.
