One of the fiercest battles between secular and religious Israelis in recent months centers on plans to build a women’s ritual bath, or mikveh, in Ramat Aviv, a neighborhood in northern Tel Aviv. The mikveh is slated for construction on Noah Emanuel Street, replacing a small grove beside two existing synagogues. After four months of discussions, secular residents are hoping for a compromise. If none is reached, they plan to petition the court against the city council’s decision.
