I did in 1998 when I was 20. I blew it all on a few nights out and a holiday. A week after that I paid €10 into the bank and the cashier put in an extra zero by accident giving me €100, blew it all on two nights out. Never won anything ever since. You wouldn’t get a few nights out and a holiday for 500 now anyway.

Yeah my sister won a grand a few years back. And a a guy I knew’s sister apparently won fifty grand on one a few years back. Though personally I’d rather spend the money on the Euros than scratchcards.

Edit: this was back in 2013, I was 19 working 3 days a week that would pay my rent and a few bits to eat so yeah when I say broke I mean I had nothing to eat for a few days….just water.

Out of the 19,500,000 cards printed in each batch, there are 78 €1,000 prizes and 15 €15,000 prizes, which means odds of 1-in-250,000 and 1-in-1,300,000 respectively.
So yeah, chances are you aren’t going to hear of many people winning them.

I won a 100 quid last year on the 3 quid ones around 3 years ago I won 400 quid on one of the 10euros ones was actually my last tenner couldn’t believe it when it happened cashed it in the GPO on O’Connell St.
A friend of mines father one 30k on one of the 3 euro scratch cards when they first came out. The fella was already a mortgage advisor in our local AIB so he wasn’t stuck for it before hand.
I had a neighbour who won 10,000 pounds from a scratch card. She got it from a neighbour in a get well soon card after she had been attacked by a cow and ended up in hospital. A headline in one of the newspapers at the time was ‘It could be Moo’.
When I was doing the leaving cert a classmate won 500 euro on a visit to the shop after an exam. He spent his winnings over a long period of time by upgrading his smokes from Amber Leaf to actual cigarettes. A hero in my eyes

I made €52 back.

Sometimes when i get them i find out if id put the same effort into scratching my ass id feel happier.
Any special reason why most of these winners from comments aren’t from this decade?
If someone put 5 euros into Bitcoin every week for the last ten years, instead of into lottery tickets, they would be sitting pretty.
There are always a handful of winners in the lottery, but the odds are massively stacked against you.
