Finland’s national basketball team defeated Estonia 96:67 away from home in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifiers. The match was held at the Unibet Arena in Tallinn, ERR News reports.
Estonia started the game well and took a 10:2 lead, while in the second quarter their advantage reached eight points, 34:26. However, Finland moved ahead 38:35 by halftime. The third quarter proved decisive: Finland went on 8:0 and 11:3 runs and already led 66:46 before the final period. In the end, the visitors won by 29 points.
Match statistics
Kristian Kullamäe was Estonia’s top scorer with 15 points. Kregor Hermet added another 10 points. For Finland, Lauri Markkanen finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Olivier Nkamhoua and Edon Maksuni scored 18 points each.

Finland made 52% of its field-goal attempts and 37% of its three-pointers, while Estonia posted figures of 37% and 26%, respectively. Finland also won the rebounding battle 41:32 and committed eight turnovers compared with 14 by its opponent.
Group standings
The defeat was Estonia’s second in a row after its away game against Hungary, which ended 85:67. After the game against Finland, Estonia had three wins and stood fifth among six national teams in Group L. The top three teams in the group advance to the next qualifying stage.
Estonia forward Henri Drell took responsibility for his own poor performance after the match. In the game against Hungary, he scored four points and made four rebounds, while against Finland he recorded two points and three rebounds. Over the two games, Drell committed eight turnovers. Estonia’s national team will play its next match during the next qualifying window.
