I almost can’t believe I want Theresa May back as PM but here we are. I guess it’s an important reminder that things can always get worse. Maybe I will look back fondly on Boris Johnson under the prime ministership of someone like Nadine Dorries…
I was very happy to see this, then I saw it was posted on the general UK sub. Wonder how much transphobia we’re going to see from TERF Island today eh? Good luck to the mods, bless yas.
I always wonder what kind of pressure gets put on when you’re in power. Theresa May in her younger days was sometimes viewed as the new centrist/liberal conservative leader of tomorrow, kind of like a Tory Tony Blair, noted particularly for her criticism of the party’s treatment of minorities. Then she becomes Home Secretary followed by PM, and in this period enacts or continues some of the most viciously conservative policies you can imagine. Then as soon as she’s out she’s standing up for trans rights again. I always wonder who is talking to our leaders and what they’re saying when we see these wide changes in policy position from people who achieve power.
Considering his “you can’t be a man without a penis” comment the other day, I highly doubt he will.
My sister, motivated by her dissertation work, wrote a letter to Rishi (our MP) asking about banning Trans conversion therapy.
The response completely ignored her question, praising the commitments of the Tories to outlawing conversion therapy for the LGB parts but the T was not brought up at all in his letter. Not even a mention, like they don’t even exist. The silence was deafening
Couldn’t she just urge him to resign
Isn’t this a good thing?
The relevance! The relevance!
What exactly is transgender conversion therapy?
But who will Johsnon use as a dead cat strategy if he cannot target trans people when he is failing in the polls? It’s not like he can go after bankers or other thoroughly decent people who work hard to donate money to him to for private access.

Finally something I agree with her on!
