A monk and hagiographer named [Cogitosus](https://www.dib.ie/biography/cogitosus-a1809) wrote about Brigid in the mid 7th century (full text in translation [here](https://www.obsidianmagazine.com/DaughtersoftheFlame/images/Cogitosus_FROM_St_Patricks_World_by_Liam_de_Paor.pdf)). He wrote about numerous miracles that Brigid performed throughout her lifetime, including this one:
_”A certain woman who had taken the vow of chastity fell, through the youthful desire of pleasure and her womb swelled with child. Brigid, exercising the most potent strength of her ineffable faith, blessed her, causing the child to disappear, without coming to birth, and without pain. She faithfully returned the woman to health and to penance.”_
I don’t remember the priest telling us that story in primary school.
