Poland’s National Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the suspected involvement of foreign intelligence and a terrorist-related crime following a fire at a company producing drones for the Polish and Ukrainian militaries.
The investigation concerns a fire that broke out on August 31, 2026, at the premises of WB Electronics S.A. in Skarżysko-Kamienna. According to the prosecutor’s office, the fire was deliberately caused by placing a charge containing flammable materials on the company’s premises.
The authorities are investigating the incident as a case involving participation in the activities of a foreign intelligence service against the Republic of Poland and the commission of a terrorist-related crime. The offense under investigation carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
The fire resulted in the destruction of warehouse facilities at the company. Polish prosecutors estimate the damage at no less than 15 million Polish zlotys ($4 million).
Prosecutors were present at the scene from the morning as procedural activities were carried out. Initially, investigators from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Skarżysko-Kamienna and the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Kielce participated, followed later by prosecutors from the Kraków branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation is being conducted jointly with Poland’s Internal Security Agency and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Police in Kielce. The authorities have not provided further details about the suspected perpetrators or the possible foreign intelligence service involved.
No one has been charged in connection with the incident so far. The investigation remains ongoing as Polish authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire and identify those responsible.
