A key route between Ukraine and Romania has been forced offline after an overnight strike triggered fires at the border facility.
On the night of September 1, Russian forces attacked the Orlivka international border crossing point in the Odesa region with Shahed-type attack drones. It provides ferry service between Ukraine and Romania.
This is reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Russian attack damages the Orlivka border crossing point
Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service confirmed strikes on the building and grounds of the crossing point. The attack caused fires, which were contained by emergency responders.
Due to damage to the infrastructure, operations at Orlivka have been temporarily suspended. Border processing of people and vehicles is currently not being carried out.
The Romanian side has been informed about the suspension of border crossing operations. Vehicles are being redirected to other checkpoints along Ukraine’s state border.
Citizens are urged to take into account the temporary suspension of operations at the Orlivka border crossing point when planning trips abroad.
